In the Darkness of the Night; Waypoint 2,15,23

Just a made-up song. In the Darkness of the Night by Lewis Mathis- 2021 Lewis Mathis- vocals, all guitars, & drum programming In the darkness of the night when the shadows cross my window pane And the whispers ride the wind that stirs the leaves among the trees My imagination turns my thoughts toward the depths within my soul And my demons I’ve suppressed come alive from the confines of my mind The foundation of my world shakes under the weight it has to bear My dreams are filled with thoughts of you, but you left without a care What was it that I did to you that your love grew dark and cold? When did the feelings that you had for me go and turn your heart to stone? After what I thought I meant to you and what you meant to me I have walked away a broken man plagued by your memory I have kept a torch that burns for you out of sight by others eyes But the toll that it has played on me is detrimental to my life I fight back the blame I have for being less than I could have been ‘Cause a love that needs to last has got to work from both ways in I can’t be the only one to give. There are times that I need to receive But you drew your life away from me and only left me barrenness The foundation of my world shakes under the weight it has to bear My dreams are filled with thoughts of you, I just wish that I didn’t care Thank you for watching I hope you have a great life Please be kind to one another recorded and produced by Black Cloud Studio copyright 2021 Black Cloud Studio

I've Just Got You on My Mind- Live at Waypoint

This is just a made up song and has nothing to do with my life. Although, being as I am of the male gender, it easily could be about me. I’ve Just Got You on My Mind by Lewis Mathis- 2019 Lewis Mathis- vocals, all guitars, & drum programming Headin’ to Amarillo, but I’ve got you on my mind I just can’t shake this feeling that if I’d had a little more time I think I could have gotten things right. I know the fault was mine So, if I cross your mind today, would you see if you could find . . . A way you could forgive me for the things I’ve done Forgetting you’re the best thing I’ve ever seen I just hope the time we’ve had has been more good than bad And I could come back home and be with you again. I played the clubs in Memphis but I just can’t seem to find A way to fill the emptiness in me that you’ve left behind And even in a crowded bar with everyone around The loneliness wells up in me, so if you wouldn’t mind . . . Could you find a way to forgive me for the things I’ve done Forgetting you’re the best thing I’ve ever seen I just hope the time we’ve had has been more good than bad And I could come back home and be with you again. After Amarillo, I think I’ll head out to the coast I’ve heard it’s really beautiful from Eureka going north If I happen back through Nashville in the coming spring I would really like to see you and maybe we could see . . . If there’s any way to forgive me for the things I’ve done Forgetting you’re the best thing I’ve ever seen I just hope the time we’ve had has been more good than bad And I could come back home and be with you again. recorded & produced by Black Cloud Studio copyright 2019 Black Cloud Studio

On the Side of the Road; Wine Down 2,16,23

It was Jan, 1974. A trucker had just dropped me off in the middle of the night in nowhere NE Arizona. I had just recently run away from home and was trying to hitch a ride to Farmington, NM. It was very cold and not many people passed by during the night. On the Side of the Road by Lewis Mathis- 2018 Lewis Mathis- vocals, all guitars, & drum programming Leilani Stewart- additional fabulous vocals My feelings changed but nobody knows The conflict deep within me that grows I’ve stayed a little long in this place It’s time for me to ramble, got a lot of world before me The pavement comes to greet me miles of road before me Finding things the hard way sometimes is the best way to go Now I’m head toward my destiny, fate’s right in front of me Watching for the changes, ain’t nothing in this life that’s free I’m taking on adversity as it raises its hand toward me I’m not going to be a victim left out on the side of the road Standing here on the side of the road Now I’m waitin’ for someone to carry me along I turn my face to the wind driven snow The wind cuts like a razor on my skin through my clothes The silence of the evening, ‘tween cars quickly passing The blinding flash of headlights take the blackness of the night from my eyes Now I’m headed toward my destiny, fate’s right in front of me Watching for the changes, ain’t nothing in this life that’s free I’m taking on adversity as it raises its hand toward me I’m not going to be a victim left out on the side of the road The moonrise brings a light to the night Shadows pass by quickly in the corner of my eye The night sky’s just too big to behold Out here in the wilderness stepping toward my goal Behind me the miles pass away walking toward another day I walk along this path I make faithful to the will inside me Now I’m headed toward my destiny, fate’s right in front of me Watching for the changes, ain’t nothing in this life that’s free I’m taking on adversity as it raises its hand toward me I’m not going to be a victim left out on the side of the road Thank you for watching I hope you have a great life Please be kind to one another recorded & produced by Black Cloud Studio copyright 2018 Black Cloud Studio

Rain Keeps Falling, The- Live at Waypoint

Another one of my just made up songs. The Rain Keeps Falling by Lewis Mathis- 2022 Lewis Mathis- vocals, all guitars, drum programming Another day, I don’t know where you are tonight We just don’t talk about the way that things have been We pass each other. My hand reaches out to touch your fingers But you pull away every time I try to draw near I’ve done the best that I can The rain keeps falling. I can hear the sound of a strong wind blowing Outside the storm is raging like the one in me The times are changing. I think it’s time for a new direction Inside my heart is calling for my soul to be free The days go by. I don’t know why we’re constant strangers I’ve borne my life to you and now I feel alone I try to be patient, but it only seems to push you further From the feelings that you had when you first met me I’ve done the best that I can The rain keeps falling. I can hear the sound of a strong wind blowing Outside the storm is raging like the one in me The times are changing. I think it’s time for a new direction Inside my heart is calling for my soul to be free I’m tired of crying about things real or just imagined I can’t go on living in a life that’s just for show I’m sorry for whatever I have done to cause this problem And whatever comes about there’s one thing that I know I’ve done the best that I can The rain keeps falling. I can hear the sound of a strong wind blowing Outside the storm is raging like the one in me The times are changing. I think it’s time for a new direction Inside my heart is calling for my soul to be free The rain keeps falling. I can hear the sound of a strong wind blowing Inside my heart is calling for my soul to be free recorded and produced by Black Cloud Studio copyright 2022 Black Cloud Studio
