It's About Time
A song about my, and my wife's, early days before our marriage.
I woke up one morning and thought that I should try to write a country/western song. I don't know if it is or not, but it sounds a lot like the stuff that gets played at the hardware store. It is the story is of my young man's dream of becoming a rock & roll star.
A song about the early days of Carrie and my lives together.
The struggles of having to spend time away from my wife to make a living.
Life is more about what you make it than what it makes you.
One of early songs and still one of my favorites. A story about leaving everything you know for a better life somewhere else.
One of my early songs, at a time when I didn't sleep very well and dreams were peculiar, to say the least.
As I lied awake one night at around 2am, I could hear my wife's slow, peaceful breathing. I finally got out of bed around 3am and went into the studio to record the song I had just written in the last hour.
One more song about my wife, Carrie.
The original version of this song with Carrie's
brother playing lead guitar.
Carry On
It was Jan, 1974. A trucker had just dropped me off in the middle of the night in nowhere NE Arizona. I had just recently run away from home and was trying to hitch a ride to Farmington, NM. It was very cold and not many people passed by during the night.
Yet, one more song I wrote about my wife. Some facts have been changed to protect the innocent.
I wrote this song in 2018 after Chicago just won the ‘most people shot in a weekend’ award. It is not an anti-gun song, but it is an anti-violence song. There is a difference.
What will the time we have here amount to?
Ever since I met my wife, being away from her has always been a bummer. She says it's weird hearing Freddy sing it,though.
I don't know anything about witches. But it didn't stop me from writing a song about them.
Just thoughts on the things going on in the world around us.
A fantastical journey into the realm of alternate worlds.
A short instrumental inspired by my love for my wife.
I accidentally recorded a section over my brother-in-law's original guitar track in the original version and by the time I got it fixed the only thing left of the original song was the lyrics.
Another fantasy adventure.
There is an insidious disease in this country. It is actually a mental condition with an attitude problem.
AB1220
This song came about so fast that I used the title that my mixer assigned it when I started recording. It's about part of the ride in life my wife and I have had.
As with so many of my songs, this is about my wife, Carrie. I wrote the lyrics for someone else's music, but it never got used. So, I wrote music for it.
nce upon a time I lived a life far different from the one I live now. This is about three occasions during that time.
This song came about because of the times I needed to be away from my wife, Carrie, to have gainful employment.
Ever since I met my wife-to-be in 1982, we have always planned that we would be together until one of us dies.
Just Me
All I will say about this song is that it is not about anything in my life.
Another song inspired by the love of my life.
Ruby was the first woman I had a relationship with. She just wanted more of a relationship than a 17 year old kid knew how to give.
As I pondered what is really out in wherever it is, if it's out there, lots of things can come to mind. Hence, is a haunting possible? I don't know. 'Mongo only pawn in game of life.'
One of many songs about my wife.
My wife keeps being the number one inspiration for my songs.
This song was inspired by my cousin, Taria, of whom I was told, preferred twangy music. So, I set out to write a song she might like.
WARNING- This is an anti-dogma song. You may not want to listen if you might be offended. What I believe can’t be proven anymore than what anyone else believes. I can admit that. I wish everyone else could.
One More Time
My second song related to the violence in major cities across the country.
When I and the woman that would eventually become my wife met, we were both involved in illegal activities and she was going to be leaving the country for the rest of her life. She did come back, obviously, and we have been together ever since 1982. This song is thoughts of what my life would have been like if she hadn't come back.
Sometimes songs just pour out of you. This song is about nobody I know.
I never had the opportunity to become the rock star I wanted to be as a young man. All in all, I am pretty happy with that.
What does go through the mind of someone when things have gone beyond what they can bear?
More lyrics that I wrote for someone else's music, but they just didn't seem interested, so I wrote some more music. On more than one occasion I have just left everything to save my own sanity.
Another little fantasy thing. I don't actually know any wizards. So, I am just guessing!
The years have flown by in my life and there doesn't appear to be a chance of slowing down.
The Return of a King
The Return of a King- overview
In the 12th year of the 6th centennial of the kingdom of Galadin, Rhoslyn was married to King Dietrich. In the first year of their marriage Rhoslyn gave birth to their first son, Prince Luther.
Luther grew to become very rebellious and very much admired and followed by the villainous of the country.
In their 18th year of marriage, the queen became pregnant and gave birth to another son, Prince Ladislas, and Queen Rhoslyn died in childbirth.
Fearing for the life of Ladislas from Luther, King Dietrich had Ladislas taken away for safety and entrusted the knowledge of his location to Leofwin,
one of his loyal wizards, who lived in a small place named Eagles’ Crest.
In the 35th year of the 6th centennial Luther rebelled, killed his father, and overthrew the kingdom and took control of the land.
With his black arts and now large army he ruled over the people with terror, subjugating them into slavery.
In the 75th year of the 6th centennial tales of a king-to-be grew and the hope of a king to rule over the land in peace grew.

It is the 99th year of the 6th centennial and19-year-old Phillip, a messenger, who has only heard tales of these things,
journeys to find the wizard at Eagles’ Crest, locate the king-to-be and return him to free the land.
Having spoken to Leofwin, Phillip made his way to the Chessa Gorge (Slavic for peaceful). Phillip begins his long, winding descent into the narrow canyon into Alangard to locate Ladislas.
-This song is entitled ‘The Return of a King, Pt 2; Asylum’
Located on the outskirts of Galadin is the small village of Tabor, which becomes the brunt of Luther’s rage. This is one such occasion.
Having had a vision of a distant land when in Alangard, Phillip rides toward the South River to find passage to the coast.
The village of Tabor, again, is devastated by the wrath of the Luther.
Phillip journeys north along the coast until he comes to a small village on the sea.
Having returned to his home of Durin, the people gather to see this fabled king. As Luther’s armies gather in the open valley below, the final battle is about to begin.
What a Good Life It's Been
Sometimes things are worth fighting for. Other times, it is better to cut your losses and start over.
Any time I need to be apart from Carrie, going back home to her is what I want to do next.
I have always had a rambling soul. If that sounds like you, you can probably relate to the song.
Music by my brother-in-law, Doug. Lyrics by me. Inspired by beautiful Hwy 7 North in Central Arkansas.
No matter what happens in my life, my rock is my wife, Carrie.
Well, this one speaks for itself.
Just a made up song about nothing going on in my life but, unfortunately, I know it has gone on in someone's life.
Song about the time in between when my wife-to-be was leaving the country for the rest of my life and when she returned.
The outward pressure of society trying to force change upon the rest of humanity.
Architect of Destruction
Several of the songs on this album are a condemnation of what we have allowed this country to turn into. That would include whatever part I may have had in it, as well.
Three incidents that continue to grow more frequently in these days.
Another song about the contentment in my life. Hence, the title.
Is this going to be the end result of what is happening to our world?
My wife , Carrie, is the constant in my life and she never needs to change. Nor do I want her to.
Carrie and I have always been suited to one another. We have had a great life together since 1982.
I used several Scottish proverbs to write this song. All of them are very good lessons to learn.
A song based on my childhood. Some of the facts have been changed to protect the innocent.
There is a storm coming.
My life is full of wanderlust, but Carrie's isn't. So, sometimes I go and she doesn't, but she is always on my mind.
Just how much are we going allow to be lost before we say it's time to put a stop to what is going on?
Album in Progress
I am not sure just how much of this liberal society we can take before things just explode.
I wrote this song for all of the music venues that don't even have the consideration to return a call.
I do love performing music for an audience. Just about anytime and anywhere.
Inspired by the 1960's televison cult classic, Dark Shadows.
This song is in memory of Laken Riley,
who died at the hands of vicious criminal on February 22, 2024.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could live our lives without having other people's crap crammed down our throats?
Three wonderful times in my great marriage with Carrie Mathis.
How well I remember the first night I spent with Carrie way back on Thanksgiving of 1982. And it has only gotten better.
Once upon a time we had some blue barrel acid which we enjoyed very much. Hence, the taste of blue, which I know what it tastes like now, and the night that went with it.
Another of my made up songs about nothing that has ever happened to me.
